Hi gang!
Everyone seems to be flagging today. Why is that? Half the world's come down with the flu and the other half is looking decidedly lacklustre. It's that time of year when Christmas is just out of reach, homework is starting to weigh down like a tonne of bricks (Still moving that house!), and sometimes you could just break down and cry. Well, you could, I suppose. If you really wanted to.
But let's not forget that, in this world of dread and fear...no, wait. That's Band Aid...In this world of turmoil and tyrrany...that's better...There is still one spark of hope! The one thing that keeps us fighting until the next week, and the next, and the next. When it's here, it's that thing we love to hate, but when it's gone, we wish it would come back. That's right...It's Hit 40 UK!
Don't we all love laughing at the junk in the charts, discovering some new music, pretending to be "cool", and just forgetting all our worries for that blissful period from four o'clock until seven. Honestly, if you don't listen in, I would thoroughly reccomend it. Not only does it showcase the country's favourite music...I think...it's also hosted by two of the best presenters on Radio 1 at this moment - the brilliant Fearne and Reggie! With almost as good a rapport as Yivvits and MrBubble, they make counting down the charts so much more fun than a continuous playlist.
As for the music itself, you never know what gems you might turn up amid the pile of randomness. It was on this very program that I vaguley remember discovering Avril lavigne, all those years ago, as well as Scouting For Girls, Panic at the Disco, a lot of the stuff I listen to today, actually. It's not all yodelling Leona and the Kings of Leon screaming about burning socks.
This may seem like a bit of a random outburst, but i really do prescribe this to anyone with "almost-december" syndrome. It's enough to put a smile on anyone's face. Well, mine, at least.
Jack
